Trumbull, CT- January 13, 2004 - Perimeter Internetworking, a leading provider of managed network and security services for community financial institutions, announced their acquisition of iRW Services, a Managed Service Provider (MSP) based in Charlotte, NC that provides remotely managed IT solutions tailored to small and medium-sized businesses, including desktop support and IP telephony
Perimeter is very excited to embrace two of iRW’s successful applications, IP Telephony Services and Managed Desktop Networking. IP (Internet Protocol) Telephony Services allows phone calls to be delivered over the Internet and data networks to a desktop. This allows for the integration of voice, via a Cisco IP Telephone, which enables a user to transfer, forward, conference, speed dial and customize calling options. The second service is Desktop Networking, which expands upon Perimeter’s managed wide area network expertise to deliver a complete End-to-End solution. “The fact that we can now manage a client’s entire IT environment, down to the desktop and phone, is very exciting and integrates well with our delivery of a complete security solution,” says Andrew Greenawalt, CTO of Perimeter.
Perimeter will be maintaining iRW’s full technical and service facility in Charlotte, NC. The expansion of locations enables Perimeter to service its’ existing Southeastern clients more effectively, as well as to grow more aggressively in the Southeast. In support of this expansion, two of Perimeter VPs will be relocating to Charlotte – Tim Crothers, VP of Security and Sebastian Fazzino, VP of Sales Engineering – and will be joining forces with iRW’s CTO and VP of Operations, Adi Khindaria and Bill Knight, both of whom were senior technical veterans of First Union (now Wachovia) E-Commerce Group before founding iRW. “The unique knowledge of these four talented people is very powerful and will be of critical value to our clients,” says Brad Miller, CEO of Perimeter.
In addition, Perimeter will also be embracing iRW’s current relationship with Synovus (NYSE: SNV), a diverse financial services holding company which owns 40 community banks in the Southeast as well as a majority interest in Total System Services (NYSE: TSS), a leading electronic payment processor of consumer credit, debit, commercial, stored value and retail cards; representing more than 245 million cardholder accounts. Through its’ investment in TTV, a venture capital firm based in Atlanta, Synovus is the largest shareholder in iRW. “Synovus will become one of Perimeter’s largest clients, as well as an important partner as a result of its’ merchant relationship with several hundred community banks in the Southeast,” added Brad Miller.
